The Apartheid Museum showcases South Africa in the turbulent years of the apartheid era. During this period millions of people were subjected to a life of servitude, discrimination, and oppression until the country was liberated in 1994 and became a democratic society. The museum illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid through impressive exhibits, provocative film footage, and fascinating guided tours. A series of 22 individual exhibition areas takes you on an emotional journey; from the heartbreaking struggle for freedom and equality to the ultimate climax of the election of Nelson Mandela, the first Black president of South Africa.
