Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa’s fourth largest game park, is situated in a crater in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province. This crater is the product of a volcano that erupted many millions of years ago. This extinct volcano has evolved to become one of the most fascinating landscapes for you to visit. By the Genesis project, the majority of South Africa’s wildlife is now found in the Pilanesberg game reserve.

The Palace of the Lost City is known as one of the most extraordinary hotels in the world. The building has a unique interior boasting impressive sculptures and handmade furniture. We won’t tell you right now, you just have to see for yourself!

Highlights:

  • Chalet accommodation
  • Safari drives
  • Sun city visit
Day 1:

Departure to Pilanesberg, pickup in Johannesburg. Enter the park for a morning game drive in a closed, air-conditioned vehicle. Midday – Lunch (own account) followed by check-in at Camp. Afternoon open 4×4 vehicle safari drive. Dinner will be in the restaurant at Bakgatla or Manyane Camp.

Day 2:

Wake up early for hot beverages and rusks before it’s time to depart for a 2½ to 3-hour sunrise game drive in an open safari vehicle. Again, the exact length of the game drive depends on what you see and how long you stop at animal sightings.

Return to Manyane or Bakgatla mid-morning for a late breakfast prepared by your guide. Relax in your tent and enjoy the resort facilities. Lunch for your own cost at the onsite restaurant at the resort.

Your guide for the afternoon safari tour meets you mid-afternoon at Manyane or Bakgatla, between 16h00 and 16h30. Climb on board an open safari vehicle for a 2½ to 3-hour game drive (again, depends on what you see).

After a wonderful game drive, your guide returns you to the resort. Freshen up and relax before it’s time for dinner which is prepared by your guide.

Day 3:

Wake up early for hot beverages and rusks before it’s time to depart for a 2½ to 3-hour sunrise game drive in an open safari vehicle. Again, the exact length of the game drive depends on what you see and how long you stop at animal sightings.

At about 11h00, we leave the resort and head off into the bushveld in a closed tour vehicle for your last game drive in Pilanesberg. We stop mid-day for lunch and refreshments at Pilanesberg Centre (for your own account) and then leave the game reserve for the return journey to Johannesburg.

Expect to arrive back in the city between 17h30 and 18h30. Exact timing depends on where you need to be dropped off and late-afternoon traffic.

SUN CITY OPTION

You have the option of driving to Sun City for a quick 2-hour visit instead of going on the extended mid-day game drive. We leave the resort at 11am and drive to Sun City through the game reserve. The drive takes about 30-40-minutes.
